The Oakley brand

Oakley was born in 1975 by Jim Jannard who at the time practiced motocross. He asked an engineer friend to develop a rubber material that would not slip. Unobtainium was created and fitted first to the handles of his motorcycle and then to the temples of his glasses. His dog Oakl-ley inspired him to give the name to this brand which today belongs to Luxottica.
