What is your favourite song to listen to – to get you pumped for competing?  I have many, depends depending on my mindset is like. One is: “The Passenger” from Iggy Pop

What is your favourite sports movie?  100 meters, based on a true story

What do you see yourself accomplishing in five to ten years?  Finish a long course triathlon

How do you stay fit, healthy and happy?  
I’m Zwifting, running, skiing (skate and classic) and spending as much time as I can outside. I love cooking too so I’m taking this extra time to cook nice healthy meals.

What do you believe to be one of your weaknesses and what are you doing to improve it?  Hills in all disciplines, and swimming. - I was pushing hard every time I could step foot into the pool and I try to run and bike hills as much as I can. Just making every workout count!

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of sport?  I love music; I collect vinyl. I’m also very passionate about wine, I’m thinking of maybe someday take a sommelier course.

Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a great athletic ambassador?  I believe my strongest point would be mental; I’ll push through anything, that’s where it all starts for me.

Which sport is your favourite to participate in and why?  Bike! I just get lost and get a feeling of freedom when I’m riding, especially when out side.

What is your must have training accessory?  A smart trainer.

What clubs, teams or other extra curricular activities were you involved in during high school?  I was a goalie for team New Brunswick in ringette for a few years.

Why have you agreed to represent Mike’s Bike Shop?  I strive to inspire people to push themselves to become a better version of themselves. Big or small –victories - they all count.



Monique Landry

Who are you?  My name is Monique Landry (she/her). I love spending time outdoors with my friends and family. I’m also a high school resource teacher and advocate for inclusion and active living.

Where do you live? I live in Caraquet NB with my husband Mathieu and my two daughters, Ellie and Mila. 

What do you train/compete in?  I train and compete in trail running, mountain biking and my 2023 challenge is to “try a tri” at the Hampton Ladies Triathlon in June. I have a thing for endurance events. I consider myself slow, but resilient. 

What is the best part about competing?  Competing in races is great motivation to push my physical and mental limits, to travel and spend time with friends and meet new people.

Who do you wish was watching you compete at every eventI think it’s important for young girls to see women compete in sports and lead active lifestyles. My two teenage daughters have been to many of my husband and I’s races and have started competing in their own. Lately, they’ve participated in Mountain bike races. 

What is your favourite song to listen to – to get you pumped for competing? I have SAINT JHN’s Roses (Imanbek remix) on repeat during some treadmill sessions. Sia’s “Unstoppable” and “Titanium” have great lyrics and have gotten me trough tough trainings.

What do you see yourself accomplishing in five to ten years? I’d love to host adventure travel trips.

How do you stay fit, healthy and happy? Since the start of the pandemic, I’ve tried to be very physically active, preferably outdoors as much as possible. My trainings have shifted from the gym to the trails. It grounds me and has become essential to my mental wellbeing. 

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of sport? I love to travel and spend most of my summers camping with my family. I also have the reputation of being that friend who’s always taking pictures of everything. I also spend time doing various art projects and listening to audiobooks. 

Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a great athletic ambassador?  I strongly believe in building active lifestyle communities. I use social media as a tool to promote a variety of sports and bring people together. I’m a local advocate for Mountain Bike Atlantic, an ambassador for Mike’s Bike Shop, a founding member of “Les sirènes en cavale”, our local mountain biking group and “SUP Girlz” a paddling group. I have also been a Spartan Race Street Team member and I was on the organising committee of “Course Caraquet Race”. Being part of these communities has given me the confidence, knowledge, resources and motivation to try new sports and lead an active lifestyle. I hope to inspire people to get active while enjoying the Great Outdoors.

Which sport is your favourite to participate in and why?  I have a few favourite sports: biking for the thrill of speed, trail running for the simplicity of the sport, swimming because it brings me back to the breath and paddle boarding because I’m happiest near water. 

What is your must have training accessory?  My watch is a training must have. Why? STRAVA! I’m a stats girl.

Why have you agreed to represent Mike’s Bike Shop?  I agreed to represent Mike’s Bike Shop because of their community involvement.


Cam MacKinnon

Who are you?  My name is Cam MacKinnon and I am first and foremost, a father to a beautiful 2 ½ year old daughter Olivia. I am an Adventurer, Former Professional Cyclist, Trail Runner and Backcountry Skier. I own and operate Fast Forward Athletics, a Personal Training and Endurance Coaching Business, where I work to help prepare New Brunswick athletes and clients of all levels for their own individual fitness objectives and adventures.

Where do you live?  I am originally from Calgary, Alberta, but have now called Dieppe, NB my home for the past 13 years.

What do you train/compete in?  I compete mainly in Cycling Events and Ultra marathon/ Trail Running Races. I hope to compete in both the Gravel Racing and Bikepacking scene in the near future!

Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a great athletic ambassador?  Honestly, it`s my life and livelihood. I make a living helping others live a fitter, happier and healthier lifestyle and I am continually trying to build our athletic community. The more people I can motivate to ride bikes, ski, run trails, lift weights the better! A fit community is a better community and I just want that to continue to grow! 

What is your must-have training accessory?  This year, it`s been my Wahoo Kickr Smart Trainer, I have put in many hours and I feel a huge difference in fitness! Beyond that my Garmin Fenix GPS, it has saved me many times when I am deep in the woods, off-trail, racing the sunset along with my Black Diamond Headlamp!

Why have you agreed to represent Mike’s Bike Shop?  Mike`s Bike Shop has everything covered for all of the adventures myself and my family does outdoors. Bikes, Skis, Clothing and every accessory imaginable. But the main reason, is the community Mike`s Bike Shop has helped to build. In the 13 years since I have lived in Dieppe, it has transformed into a totally rad outdoor community and Mike`s Bike Shop is a big reason for that. It`s becoming part of our local culture and I want that to continue. Our local trail systems are becoming amazing and the more this community of outdoor enthusiasts grows, the more this will continue to expand! Shop local!

Steve Kikkert

Who are you? Steve Kikkert

Where do you live? Moncton

What do you train/compete in? I like to call myself a triathlete. I also ride Cycle Cross, MTB, Fat Bike and of course road. I enjoy skate skiing, snowshoeing and hiking in the winter. This winter I also started doing some ice climbing. I do as much as I can to be outdoors all year round. Most of my TV time is on my trainer while hitting the TrainerRoad workouts.

Who is your favourite sports hero? Tom Brady, because of what he has accomplished and how long he has been able to play his sport.

What is the best part about competing? What I love about competing is the atmosphere. When people are lining the course and cheering for everyone. I have to admit that when I race longer course triathlon like 70.3 and IRONMAN, the FINISH LINE is a happy place to be.

What is your favourite sports quote? I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfilment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle - victorious. Vince Lombardi

Who do you wish was watching you compete at all your events? My mom for sure. She never got to see me race and passed away in 2019. I even raced the PEI Marathon a number of years ago because she lived there and could be at the finish line. Something came up that day and she couldn’t make it. I truly believe she hasn’t missed an event since he passing. I also love to have my kids cheer me on. Max and Olivia have been at many races and always bring a smile to my face when I see them on the course. 

What is your favourite song to listen to – to get you pumped for competing? The one that brings a smile to my face is Alive by Edwin. This song makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up every single time.

What is your favourite sports movie? This is a hard one. There are so many. The one that comes to my mind first is Rudy. That guy never gave up on his dream and finally made it on to the field of play at Notre Dame.

What do you see yourself accomplishing in five to ten years? I hope that I am still able to do all the fun things that I do today that I feel help keep my young. 

What do you believe to be one of your weaknesses and what are you doing to improve it? Kryptonite… nope, ICE. I have had a fear of ice since the bike crash that had me off my feet for 4 months. I do not like to be stuck inside. This winter I decided to try vertical ice. Not as bad.

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of sport? I guess I don’t really have any time outside of sport. Hiking is a sport right?

Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a great athletic ambassador? I love to share sport and encourage others to get out and get active. I believe we can do almost all of our sports in one way or another no matter the time or the weather. If you have the right gear you can make it happen most of the time. 

What is your must-have training accessory? The training accessory that was a game changer for me was the Wahoo Kickr. I have been doing my indoor training on the Kickr with TrainerRoad since 2014. I have had every version and I am currently riding on the latest version 5.

What clubs, teams, or other extracurricular activities were you involved in during high school? You are going to love this one… I was on the Harrison Trimble curling team in High School. Yup… Curling. ICE again.

Why have you agreed to represent Mike’s Bike Shop? I’ve been on the team since 2014 representing Triathlon in general. I believe that Mike’s Bike Shop carries the best brands in the sports we support. I ride the Giant Trinity Advance Pro 1 with Di2 for triathlon and have a number of Trek bikes for all my other flavours. I also have an Arc’teryx fetish and collection that keeps growing. I like to be dry and warm.

Who do you wish was watching you compete at all your events? My parents and potential teams/sponsors.

What do you see yourself accomplishing in five to ten years? Racing on a sponsored team.

What do you believe to be one of your weaknesses and what are you doing to improve it? Strength. I just joined Goodlife for the summer. They have a free teen program.

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of sport? TikTok and making videos.

Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a great athletic ambassador?  I’m a very social person and like to meet new people. I'm always reaching out to other bikers and skiers online.

What is your must-have training accessory? A helmet and the right shoes!

Why have you agreed to represent Mike’s Bike Shop? It's been a community spot since I was very small. My dad has been part of MBS for over 25 years.
