Michael Roy
Michael Roy is from Moncton NB.
He is a father and husband who, by day works as an educator and serves as the director of the Video Game Art and TV and Game Animation programs at McKenzie College in downtown Moncton. By evening Mike is a lover of all things bicycle: a triathlete, a cycling advocate, a promoter of active living.
Mike's love of bicycles dates back to his childhood and adolescence when his bicycle represented freedom, a means of getting around and most importantly fun.
He rediscovered his love of cycling in 2012 as a means of getting back in shape. He bought a Giant hybrid from Mike's Bike Shop back when the Shop was located on Champlain Street in Dieppe. It wasn’t long before Mike began upgrading bike(s) in order to race in Triathlon, road races, cyclocross and everything in between.
Mike is an active contributor to our cycling community: he leads by example, riding bikes in many disciplines, he is an active leader and participant in Mike's Bike Shop's Thursday night gravel rides, raises money through bike fundraisers, and as a founding member of the Active Transportation Coalition of Moncton. He has served as the spokesperson for the group and remains active as a Director of the Coalition.
When not on the bike, Mike stay busy: swimming, running, doing strength work and photography. Most importantly, he stays active taking walks with his wife and his dog Blue.
